Starting from the RPSKONAK area at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, just a 50 minute drive from Side, our adventure begins with a brief 10 minute introduction from our multilingual guides. Our destination is SELGE ANCIENT CITY, situated 11 km away from the Taurus Mountains’ peak, towering at a height of 1400 meters.
As we journey towards SELGE, our experienced guides will lead us to capture some unforgettable moments along the way, with breaks to take in the captivating views of ADAM ROCKS, KÖPRÜLÜ CANYON, KOPRUCAY, HISTORICAL ANCIENT SELGE, and the uniquely beautiful viewing hills. Throughout the tour, our guides will also share their knowledge of the region’s geography and history.
The ancient kingdom of ANTIQUE LYDRA dates back to 2000 BC, predating the Hellenistic era, and was subsequently ruled by the likes of the Seljuk Empire, Roman Empire, Ancient Greek, and Ottoman Empire. During its golden age, the ancient theater in the area, which dates back to 2200 BC, was a bustling hub of activity, with a population of 20,000 people. The produce and food-weighted products were transported to ASPENDOS, PERGE, and ANTIQUE SIDE via the bridge river.
After exploring the fascinating SELGE, our next stop is lunch at our restaurant, where our chefs will prepare a delicious local meal with a stunning view of the Taurus Mountains and the river on the edge of Köprücay. During the break, you can even take a refreshing dip in the river.
Post-lunch, we will head to TAZI CANYON, Turkey’s largest canyon, formed during the glacial age, standing tall at 410 meters and spanning 40 meters in width. It is a WORLD HERITAGE site and a first-degree protected area, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the TOROS mountains.
To conclude our tour, we will visit a village café to enjoy some local natural tea and coffee, with a spectacular view. Finally, we will drop you off at your hotels between 18:00 and 18:30, bringing an end to a memorable journey.
