Pamukkale is a town in western Turkey known for its mineral-rich thermal waters flowing from white travertine terraces on a nearby hillside. It is adjacent to Hierapolis, an ancient Roman spa city founded around 190 BC.

Among the ruins here are a well-preserved theater and a necropolis with a sarcophagus stretching for 2 km. The Ancient Pool is famous for its sunken Roman columns as a result of an earthquake.
